Thomas Staamer Dwyer, 78, of Riverside, RI, passed away on September 30, 2022 after a long illness. Born on February 16, 1944 in Macon, Georgia to Edward and Elizabeth Dwyer, Tom was raised from a young age in Pawtucket, RI and graduated from St. Raphael Academy in 1962. Tom attended the University of Rhode Island for a brief period of time and was a member of the Ram’s football team. After leaving URI, Tom worked at Blackstone Valley Electric Company, Star Market, and Acosta.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife Celia A. Dwyer and his granddaughter Hailey Grace Dwyer, and is survived by his son Timothy M. Dwyer, of Baldwinsville, New York, and his wife Margaret, his daughter Kimberly A. Grant of Pawtucket, and her husband Joe, four grandchildren, Megan, Ben, Kelsey and Teagan, his long-time partner Ellen M. Perreault, her daughter Kristen L’Heureux, and her husband Kevin, her sons Kevin and Michael, and her grandchildren, Sara and Natasha, his brother Neal Dwyer who donated a kidney to Tom so he could enjoy a longer life, and several cherished nieces, nephews and cousins.
Since his retirement, Tom spent most of his time attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, smelling the roses and enjoying life in this wonderful world.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2022 from 2 to 4 pm at Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Avenue, Lincoln, RI 02865, with a service to celebrate Tom’s life at approximately 3:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Raphael Academy, Attn: Thomas S. Dwyer ’62 Memorial Scholarship Fund, 123 Walcott Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860.
